Da Silva Twins: They've Arrived

8/6/08

Rafael and Fabio da Silva played their first match for Man Utd Aug 4th, against Peterborough. I've been waiting to see these boys in action for a year now and according to the headlines, they're showing why.

Rio Ferdinand's words from Tribalfootball:

"Against Peterborough, they [the Da Silva twins] looked like they'd be playing regular games for the last two years, not missing a year, so that's talent," Ferdinand said. "You ask yourself could an English player do that, the same thing, and it's difficult to say...

"Watching the foreign teams and seeing the touch their kids possess and the way they take the ball, it's a lot different to our kids and the individual skills they have. It's just a comfort on the ball, a different style and a different outlook on how to play.

"We bring other things to the table in terms of desire, energy and will to win, so if we can marry the two of those things together, then we will have a great mix and blend. But until we do that, then we're not going to have the droves of children coming through."

It won't be long until these boys are playing consistent Premier league football.

Good Ol' Jose!

8/4/08

He's back in the game already, but we've been missing his interviews and apparently he noticed that. Last week Claudio Ranieri stated Mourinho wouldn't be successful in Italy. The Portuguese replied:
- I'm in Italy to work. I'm not worried about other people's jobs. He(Ranieri) said that winning isn't important to him. That mentality explains why, despite his age, he hasn't won any important titles. Maybe he needs to change his ideas, but he might be too old for that.

Ouch! At 45, Jose has won 2 Champions League, 1 UEFA Cup and 2 English Premier League titles. Ranieri, 57 years old, has only won a Copa Del Rei(Valencia) and a Copa Italia(Fiorentina). Again... Ouch!
