Hamilton Redeems Himself In Silverstone

7/7/08

After much criticism, Lewis Hamilton redeemed himself at home in the English Grand Prix. The McLaren driver won the race under precarious situations due to heavy rain and a extremely wet track. He dominated the race since the beginning leaving behind BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld for more than a minute's distance.

Another driver to have a sensational race was Rubens Barrichello. After starting in the 16th position, the Brazilian gained 10 spots in the first lap. Then making the right choice by switching to heavy rain tires, the rain got worse and the Honda driver heroically finished with the 3rd position.

Nadal breaks Federer's Wimbledon 5 year Streak

7/6/08

He had to sweat to do it though, a final score of 3/2 with partials: 6/4, 6/4, 6/7(5/7), 6/7 (8/10) e 9/7.
Federer lost in his own backyard, also breaking a streak of 65 straight wins on grass. However he is still ranked #1, but Nadal is much closer now. The match had to be interrupted due to heavy rain when the Spaniard was already ahead. After the break the Swiss seemed to have turned the match against his opponent when lost of concentration saw him lose grip of the situation and a tight battle til the end would see out the winner.
Bad year for Roger Federer, who hasn't won a single Grand Slam or Master yet.

Random news...

Tabloid "News of the World" reports Rooney's seeing red. That's right! His golddigger wife(Sorry Wazza, but c'mon...) made him spend a fortune for the wedding... They estimate £ 100 per person. He spent £4,7 million for the last 12 months alone and apparenlty owes the bank £ 1,1 million. And he is also big on gambling so that might add to it since he was in Vegas last week. But I guess this year's salary will more than make up for it and he can always shoot commercials...

More after the jump...

Sloppy seconds for Cristiano? Apparently the same tabloid above spoke with a friend of Nereida's who said that Sergio Ramos slept with her before she started dating CR7. Also that the man is quite jealous... Does he still want to go to Madrid?? Man if that's true, it'd be awkward!!

Amauri to get a chance with Brazil?

In an interview with "Gazzetta Dello Sport", Dunga admited he is willing to give the new Juve forward a chance if he performs.

- If Amauri shows competitiveness at Juve, he'll have his chance. Maybe in November's friendly(against Portugal). If he wants to play for Brazil, he'll have to show the strength to wait.

Dunga rejected the idea of calling Amauri for the next WCQ games(against Chile and Bolivia in September). He mentioned that, at the moment, other forwards have priority in the fight for a spot up top.

- I certainly won't call him up for the next qualifier games. There is hierarchy in my attack passing through Adriano, Pato, Luis Fabiano and Fred.

Amauri certainly got game, and I think he'll waste a World Cup chance if he chooses to play for Brazil. Besides the names mentioned above, there is always the question of Ronaldo... It's never wise to bet against him, plus other players coming up. He is wanted by Italy and they really don't have anyone estabilished up front at the moment. Luca Toni has disappointed with his international form, Quagliarella and Di Natale aren't quite the World Class players the Italians would like to have... So I think that he can solidify a spot with the Azzuri. Like I said, the man is quality, just don't want it see it go to waste.

The Free Kickmaster - Rafa Marquez

Not Ronaldinho, not Messi... The Free Kickmaster champion is Rafa Marquez, who won the $1 million prize. David James was the winning goalkeeper, snatching the $500 thousand prize. Around 50 thousand people showed up to witness the event at Reliant Stadium in Houston, which will be broadcast in 60 countries by Fox Sports International... Whatever that means, I just know I haven't seen it anywhere I can watch.
Another Mexican player who made it to the finals was Jared Borgetti, who plays at Monterrey.

More after the jump...

Ronnie and Messi went out in the semi-finals, but of course were the ones who drew the most excitement out of the fans.

David James displays his check.

Steve Nash Celebrity Showdown

7/5/08

Last week Steve Nash and Claudio Reyna hosted a celebrity 6v6 exhibition game in Chinatown in NY.
The purpose was to raise funds and awareness to their respective charities.
Both NBA and world-class soccer players attended.
Thierry Henry, Baron Davis, Jozy Altidore, etc...
Would've been cool to watch.

CR7 - The Store

The store, which opened in 06, has started to carry it's own line of design inspired by the player himself. The clothes vary in style, ranging from classic to sports wear at more affordable prices as opposed to when it started, which offered other brands like "Armani".

A fashion show was thrown to display the CR7 style and it certainly seems to have worked as sales went up immediately afterwards. For both men and women, the hottest items are handbags and Freddie Mercury style leather jackets.
Plans are to open a branch in Lisbon and then expand to Italy and England. If it all goes well, why not the US?
Check out the pics after the jump...

Free kick Master Competition!!!

7/4/08

How is this not being advertised all over? I don't know, but it sure as hell seems like a hot event. $1 million to the winner with some of the best free kick takers on the planet including Ronaldinho, Messi, Del Piero and many more... It also features top class keepers like Mondragon, David James and Kasey Keller who'll compete for half a mil. Check out their website, it's a bit ghetto looking but very detailed, even has videos.
Anyway, I'd put my money on Juninho to win it all but Lyon didn't release him. Other expected players include retired Romario, Dunga and Jorginho, Fernando Torres(although he didn't confirm), Julio Baptista, Martin Palermo, Robert Pires, Muntari... Sadly it'll only be available on TV by PPV.

Additional info by Jayce:
Its in Houston. Tickets range from $20-$470 (VIP seating)
Zidane is expected as a celebrity judge. Kickers are playing for 1 million dollars.
How does the whole world not know about this?!
And i looked into the PPV situation, couldn't find a carrier. Dish Network only has wrestling and porn available as pay-per-view-choices.. No soccer anywhere. Might just be a European broadcast.

Also.. Rumors are that the LA Galaxy will meet with Ronaldinho after and make him an offer.

Tomasson leaves Villareal - The Swede returns to Feyenoord where he played from 1998 to 2002.

Real Madrid willing to pay €85 million for CR7 not a cent more - Meanwhile his sister has said that he wishes to stay at United. (Hype)

LA Galaxy offers big money to 10R - The Americans are willing to pay him a salary of € 18 million a year. But to get his signature, they've offered Barcelona € 30 million. Take a look at the jersey he was wearing during the charity match "Ronaldinho's Friends x Messi's Friends", it says: Galaxy! Given that the theme of the event was: "A Game From Another Galaxy"... Only his team's jersey displayed that name. A hint?? (Anything is possible?) Not Really, his brother just came out and said "no way". The chances of him going to Milan are 80% - 90%.

Barcelona signed Gérard Piqué from United - They repoed this Catalan, but they should've never let Cesc go... (Fact)

Inter Milan will meet Roma to discuss the signing of Mancini. (Fact)

Mourinho says Lampard might not move this season, but defo next season - That's because his contract runs out next season and Scolari is not willing to let him go even after acquiring Deco. (Talks)

Mourinho going after Xavi. (Talks)

USA Thierry Henry

A Frenchman in a tie tshirt and hi-tops?! Only in New York.

Henry was recently spotted in NY playing in a charity game organized by Steve Nash. He told some fans that he plans on finishing out his career in the US and showing Americans how to celebrate a goal.
He was recently left out of Barcelona's promo tour posters for this summer.
This has added speculation that he may be headed to the US soon?
Sure would make the MLS more entertaining.
