OTP Rules of Style

7/20/08

Follow these in order to keep the beautiful game...beautiful.

Rule #1: If your skills are not up to par, stick to basic black and white boots.
Rule #2: Flashy shoes are for flashy players. How far away you deviate from black boots should be comparable to your skill level. (If you're wearing bright green or orange boots... better be prepared to back them up)
Rule #3: If you're short, don't wear 3/4 pants. They make you look even shorter. (How cool you think they are is irrelevant)
Rule #4: When attending a professional soccer game, jerseys from other professional sports are not acceptable. (I can't believe you had to be told this)
Rule #5: Soccer Moms of America: When attending a soccer game, don't yell out "kick it!"...We know. (But thanks for the advice)
Rule #6: Please don't yell "offsides!" when you don't understand the rule.
Rule #7: Being a soccer player is no excuse to have hair like a douchebag. (see: half the Argentinean national team and Ronaldo in 2002)
Rule #8: If you're a defender or severely overweight, wearing Mercurial Vapors or a similarly lightweight shoe is not a good look for you.
Rule #9: Regardless of what happens, try your best not to cry. (Pass this along to C. Ronaldo)
Rule #10: If you have to cry, make it a few quiet tears. Not the "crying-so-much-i'm-out-of-breath-and-can't-even-talk" tears. (C. Ronaldo again)
Rule #11: If you play soccer at a high level, you better know who won the last World Cup. (Hint: pizza)

.... More to come next Sunday.

CR7 & DBecks At ESPY Awards Red Carpet

DB always fresh with the wife. Can never go wrong with a traditional color suit.

C.Ron on the other hand... Not so much with the white, but lets give him a break. The man just broke up with his girl and that could actually decide whether he stays or leaves Man U.
And who the hell is the body double behind him??? Even if he is one of his boys, that's embarrassing!

And tabloidish news: The Daily Mail reported CR7 was at Villa(popular club in LA) and shut down Paris Hilton like a Franco Baresi slide tackle!! In yo face!!!

Just So Random!!!! But Oh So Filthy Rich!!!

7/17/08

So word is a club from Uzbekistan, Kuruvchi, has offered Sammy Eto'o 40 million euros to play the remainder of their season(started in March, ends in November) in order to promote the beautiful game in the country.
The thing is, he is considering the offer, after all no other player makes that much, especially to play little more than half a season. Then he could be on his way to another big Euro club 40 million euros richer. But it's so.. random... And where will they get all that money from? Government?

Ronaldinho's Milan Interview

R10's (?) 1st interview after arriving in Milan. He speaks on how happy he is to be there, etc... It sounds really practiced and he is careful not to offend anyone and thus he ends up not saying much at all.
It's a 2 page interview that can be summarized in one sentence:
He's really happy to be at AC Milan and he hasn't made any major decisions yet.

How do you think you will play with Kaká?
"I'm very happy to be able to play with Kaká, I consider him one of the best in the world. He's also a great friend. Here at Milan I have a lot of friends and I don't think there will be any problems in my adjustment. I have played many times with Kaká in the national team winning important things as well."

What shirt number will you get?
"We haven't made a decision about that yet, I will tell you when it's been decided."

Read the entire interview here.

Roy Keane on club loyalty

There's been alot of talk recently about cub loyalty and how a player should be loyal to it. (Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga comes to mind) But what about the opposite side...how loyal should a club be to a player? Keane speaks on it...
"Keane, who left Manchester United after being seemingly forced out after giving an interview to MUTV (in which he crushed a few of his teammates and might have gone after Sir Alex’s number 2, Carlos Queiroz) back in 2005, said: “When a club is finished with you, they get rid. My advice is look after yourself. If you get a chance for bigger and better things, then go for it. I’ve experienced that myself. People question players’ loyalty. I question clubs’ loyalty. It’s a business to them.”

He went on to say, “If you’re not needed then you can be out of the door in ten minutes, and I’m speaking from experience. Clubs buy and sell players. Clubs sell players sometimes like a piece of meat.”

Props to theoriginalwinger for the find.

Yeah Boy!

Ronaldinho was presented by AC Milan in front of 40 thousand people today.
They sold over 5 thousand season tickets in one day... Insane! The man hasn't even played a game and is already doing his job. As you can tell by the pictures, the smile is back and that means his game will be back as well.
And talking about on the pitch, Ancelotti has confessed playing a christmas tree formation with Ronnie and Kaka playing right behind the striker, most likely Pato with Inzaghi coming in when the going gets tough.
It seems that he'll be wearing the number 11 left by Gilardino as Milan doesn't make their players give up their numbers while active. Wonder what will happen to his 10R line.

More pix after the jump including the presentation video at the end...

This is the presentation video.. Such a Berlusconi thing with all the fireworks and what not... Gotta love it though.

It's Official: Ronaldinho @ AC Milan

7/15/08

The deal was sealed at € 21 million plus a possible € 4 in case AC Milan makes it to the Champions League with his help. Now Ronnie's participation in the Olympics is questioned since Kaka wasn't released by the club. But it's possible that he has asked to take part in the Games as part of his contract.
Wonder what number he'll be wearing... Seedorf is 10.. His brand is 10R... Someone will have to make a sacrifice and Ronnie already accepted not getting his %15 signing bonus.

Other transfer talks:
Chelsea offered € 60 million for Robinho which was denied by Real Madrid who want € 150 million for him.
